How Slot Jackpots Are Structured

A jackpot is a premium prize awarded outside the normal paytable, and in the common fixed form it is a set bet multiple: tiers labelled Mini, Minor, Major and Grand, worth for example 20x, 100x, 500x and 5,000x the stake. The values are printed in the rules and do not change with other players’ activity.

Award paths vary: collecting jackpot symbols inside a Hold & Win round, filling the grid in that round for the Grand, a dedicated Wheel Bonus, or a random trigger independent of the spin result. The path defines how the jackpot interacts with the rest of the game’s math.

Jackpot-bearing games usually stack the feature with Cash Symbols and Respins-based collection loops, and the tiers are what those loops ultimately feed into.

The essential split is fixed versus pooled: fixed tiers pay a stated multiple, while a Progressive Jackpot grows from wagers until someone wins it. A game can carry both, typically fixed lower tiers and a progressive Grand.
