How Progressive Jackpots Accumulate
A progressive jackpot is a pooled prize that grows in real time: a small share of every qualifying wager feeds the pool until someone wins it, after which the pool resets to a seed value and starts growing again. The current amount is displayed live in the game.
Pools differ in scope. Local progressives collect from one game at one operator; networked progressives pool across every casino carrying the title, which is how the largest recorded slot payouts are produced. Rules define whether bet size affects win chance or only eligibility.
Award mechanisms mirror fixed-tier designs: a jackpot symbol tier inside Hold & Win, a segment on a Wheel Bonus, or a random trigger. Games often layer a progressive Grand on top of fixed Jackpots tiers, and RTP breakdowns list the progressive contribution separately.
Catalogue note: the pooled, growing prize is what defines the feature. A large but fixed top prize, even one labelled Grand Jackpot in the game, is not a progressive.
