About the Viking Runecraft Series
Viking Runecraft is a Play’n GO series that applies the studio’s 7×7 cascade format to Norse mythology. The original appeared in 2017: wins form from clusters of 5 or more connected rune symbols, cleared symbols charge a meter, and the game progresses through levels watched over by different gods.
The gods are the feature set. Each level’s patron, Thor, Heimdall, Freya, or Odin, intervenes with a distinct gift when a cascade ends without a win, adding wilds, transforming symbols, or reshaping the grid. Charging the full meter triggers the Runes of Valhalla bonus, and destroying enough symbols in one round summons Ragnarok, the series’ signature escalation.
Later versions rework pacing rather than premise. The Apocalypse edition tightens the original’s long level grind into a more volatile structure with higher multipliers, and sibling releases carry the rune-grid concept into other formats while the Viking imagery stays constant.
In Play’n GO’s grid family, Viking Runecraft is the narrative-heavy branch: where Reactoonz runs on pure meter chaos, this series stages the same cascade math as a progression through myth, which is why it remains the studio’s most structured 7×7 design.
