About the Rich Wilde Series

Rich Wilde is Play’n GO‘s adventure series, built around a single recurring explorer rather than one mechanic. The character debuted in Pearls of India in 2014, but the series’ identity was fixed by Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead in 2016.

Book of Dead defined the template: a 5×3, 10-line game set in Ancient Egypt where the book symbol is both scatter and wild. Three books award free spins with a randomly chosen expanding symbol that stretches across whole reels and pays like a scatter, a design so influential that “book slot” became a genre name.

The later adventures deliberately change engines. Tome of Madness moves Rich Wilde to a cluster cascade grid, Shield of Athena and the Amulet of the Dead return to line-based play with new free spins twists, and the Wandering City heads for lost-civilization territory. Each game keeps the character and the exploration framing while testing a different math model.

That makes Rich Wilde unusual among slot series: it is held together by its protagonist, with Book of Dead as the commercial anchor and the rest of the catalog serving as variations on where, and how, the explorer digs.
