What Counts as a Bonus Game

A bonus game is a separate playable round that takes over from the base reels: the game switches to a different screen or mode with its own rules, plays out, pays, and returns to normal spinning. The category covers everything from simple pick screens to multi-stage trails and dedicated mini-games.

Entry is usually through Scatter Symbols or dedicated bonus symbols, and the rules define whether the round’s outcome is influenced by choices or fully predetermined presentation. Prizes range from cash multiples to entry into further features.

The two most standardized shapes have their own entries: Pick Bonus screens where the player selects from hidden prizes, and Wheel Bonus spins that award a segment. Free Spins technically qualify as a bonus game too, but are catalogued separately because of how common they are.

For classification, reserve this term for genuinely separate rounds. In-reel modifiers such as Random Wilds or multiplier boosts happen within normal spinning and are features, not bonus games.
