What Counts as Dynamic Reels

Dynamic Reels is an umbrella term for slots where the reel structure itself is variable: the number of reels, the height of each reel, or both change during play. The change can be random on every spin, driven by wins, or unlocked as bonus progression.

Because the layout defines how many ways exist, dynamic systems make the potential of a spin variable too. Games communicate this with a live ways counter, and paytables are usually written per symbol rather than per line, since line patterns cannot survive a shifting grid.

Keep the term separate from Dynamic Grid, which is used for cluster and pay-anywhere games whose grid shape changes, and from Reel Switching, where reel sets are swapped rather than resized.
