Dynamic Grid Slots
How Dynamic Grids Change During Play
Dynamic Grid describes grid-based games whose playing field changes shape: individual cells unlock, blocked positions open up, or whole zones activate as the game progresses. Unlike reel-based expansion, the change happens at the level of the grid map, which may be irregular rather than rectangular.
Typical drivers are wins landing on marker positions, collected symbols, or cascade streaks. The unlocked state may last one spin, persist through a bonus, or in some games persist per bet level. A bigger active area means more symbols in play, which matters most in count-based and cluster systems.
The mechanic appears most often alongside Cluster Pays and Pay Anywhere evaluation, with Tumble & Cascading Reels feeding the unlock progression and Free Spins keeping the expanded grid for the whole bonus.
The distinction from Dynamic Reels is structural: dynamic reels change how many symbols spin in, while a dynamic grid changes which positions on the board exist at all. Multi-Grid games go a step further and run several separate grids at once.
