How Tumble and Cascading Reels Work
Tumble, Cascading Reels and similar mechanics allow a single paid round to produce several consecutive wins. After a winning combination is formed, the symbols involved are removed from the grid and new symbols fall into the empty positions.
If the new symbols create another valid combination, the process repeats. These consecutive cascades continue until no additional win is formed, after which the round ends. Depending on the game, each cascade may also increase a multiplier or activate additional features.
The mechanic is commonly combined with Pay Anywhere, Cluster Pays, Multipliers and Free Spins. In games such as Sweet Bonanza, Tumbles work alongside Pay Anywhere wins, while other slots use cascades to remove winning clusters or combinations formed across reel positions.
Tumble and Cascading Reels describe essentially the same core concept, although providers may use different names for their own versions. Pragmatic Play, for example, commonly uses the term Tumble, while other developers refer to Cascades, Avalanche or similar mechanics.
