About the Author Behind Slot Observer
I'm Ivan Rodeo, the author and editor behind Slot Observer. I spend a large part of my working life researching online casino games, reviewing gambling websites and digging into the details that make one slot different from another.
That means looking beyond themes and promotional descriptions and into the things that actually define a game: RTP, volatility, payout systems, reel layouts, bonus features and the underlying slot mechanics.
From Casino Reviews to Slot Mechanics
I've been working with online casino content for years, with much of my work focused on researching and reviewing casinos, games and software providers. Over time, I became increasingly interested in the games themselves rather than only where they can be played.
A slot that looks simple on the surface can involve a surprisingly different mathematical and mechanical structure underneath. Systems such as Cluster Pays, Pay Anywhere and Cascading Reels all approach winning combinations differently, while features, RTP configurations and game versions add another layer of complexity.
Slot Observer grew out of that interest. Instead of treating every game as another promotional review, I wanted to build a structured database where the important specifications are easy to find and where similar games, mechanics, features and series can be connected to each other.
How I Approach Game Reviews
I prefer verifiable information over assumptions. When researching a game, I look at official developer materials, game rules, paytables and playable versions whenever they are available.
If a statistic cannot be reliably confirmed, I would rather mark it as unavailable than copy an unsupported number from another casino site. The same applies when a game is distributed with several RTP configurations or when terminology differs between providers.
You can read more about this process on the Methodology page.
Independent Casino and Slot Research
My professional work includes online casino reviews and gambling-related content, so I understand the commercial side of the industry as well as the games themselves. On Slot Observer, however, the aim is to keep game information useful regardless of where a particular slot is available.
A large maximum win or an elaborate bonus round does not automatically make a game better, and an advertised RTP does not predict what will happen in an individual session. My job here is to document how the game works rather than tell readers that they are going to win with it.
When I'm Not Looking at Slot Reels
Fortunately, not everything in my life involves RTP tables and multiplier symbols. Away from the computer, I'm a big fan of grilling, good beer and punk music.
Given the choice between another spreadsheet and an evening involving a hot grill, a cold beer and loud guitars, the spreadsheet is probably going to have to wait.
