Just Slots Introduces Vortex as an Alternative to Bonus Buy

Just Slots has introduced Vortex, a new mechanic that reworks the standard Bonus Buy purchase into a cheaper, chance-based gamble. The feature has debuted in the studio’s new release Ice Vacation, and we have a full Ice Vacation review covering how it plays alongside the game’s other features.

How Vortex works

Instead of paying the full listed price for a bonus round, Vortex lets a player choose a wager worth 10% to 90% of the standard Bonus Buy cost. The player then picks how many Vortex Wheels to spin toward that bonus, and every wheel has to land successfully for the purchase to go through. If even one wheel fails, the wager is lost outright and the game returns to the base round with no bonus awarded.

In Ice Vacation, Vortex applies to all three of the game’s Bonus Buy tiers, letting a player gamble for a cheaper shot at any of them rather than paying the fixed price directly. The lower the chosen wager, the lower the odds of every wheel landing successfully, so Vortex does not change the average cost of a bonus round, it trades a guaranteed purchase for a cheaper chance at the same outcome.

What comes next

Just Slots has said Vortex will not stay unique to Ice Vacation. The studio plans to roll the mechanic out across future releases alongside a new VIP Shop, positioning it as a recurring alternative to a standard Bonus Buy purchase rather than a one-off gimmick.
