How Wild Reels Work

Wild Reels is a modifier that declares one or more entire reels wild for a spin. Every position on the affected reel substitutes, regardless of what symbols nominally occupy it, so the reel behaves as a solid wild column during evaluation.

Triggers vary: a random base-game event, a guaranteed state on specific bonus spins, or a progressive version where each retrigger adds another wild reel. Some games randomize which reels turn wild each spin of the bonus, and the paytable notes how many reels can be wild simultaneously.

The modifier interacts most dramatically with Ways to Win evaluation, where each wild reel multiplies all crossing chains, and it stacks naturally with Free Spins designs that escalate reel count over the round. Games sometimes combine it with Multipliers per wild reel active.

The boundary lines: Stacked Wilds reach a similar visual through symbols physically landing, and Expanding Wilds through growth from one cell, while Wild Reels is a declared state with no landing involved. See Wild Symbols for the substitution fundamentals.
