About the Nitropolis Series
Nitropolis is ELK Studios‘ flagship series, set in a post-apocalyptic party city run by animal gangs. The first game arrived in 2020 on a 6-reel layout where wins count as ways to win across adjacent reels.
The defining mechanic is the Nitro Reel: a special symbol that splits its reel into extra rows, growing the grid and the number of ways mid-spin. Stacking Nitro Reels during the bonus game is the series’ main escalation: because ways are counted per reel, every extra row multiplies the grid’s total, so tall boards matter more than any single symbol win.
Each sequel adds a layer. Later entries introduced new symbol types such as redraws, boosters, and coin features, raised the potential row counts, and expanded the cast of gang mascots, while ELK’s X-iter menu made every version’s bonus rounds directly purchasable at several price points.
Five mainline games in, Nitropolis works like an annual franchise: the city and characters persist, the grid-growth core stays intact, and each installment is judged by how much further it can push row expansion and feature density without collapsing under its own complexity.
